ABOUT JACK
HELLO
Jack’s passion for filmmaking began at the age of five when he created his first stop-motion LEGO movie. This early project earned him a place in the prestigious Millikan Middle School Magnet Film Program—the only program of its kind in the U.S. at the time for students in grades 6 through 8. It was during his time there, particularly in 7th grade, that Jack began to find his creative voice. He went on to produce three remarkable short films: Waiting for Dave (a reinterpretation of Waiting for Godot), Kick Flip (a story about a 13-year-old struggling to master skateboarding), and Tag (a dynamic piece showcasing chase scenes and virtuoso handheld camerawork).
Graduating at the top of his class from Millikan, Jack continued his artistic journey at Providence High School in Burbank, Los Angeles. Surrounded by like-minded creatives, he was inspired to make Nomophobe, a socially charged film about a boy addicted to his phone. In a bold move to reinforce the film’s message, Jack deleted all his social media apps during the production process, making a strong statement to his peers.
Jack’s next project was directing the music video Room for the popular punk band Blood Shot. The video won Best Editing at the SCREEN Film Festival in Santa Monica, was nominated for Best Music Video for Directing, and was shortlisted at the All American High School Film Festival in New York City.
Jack's next project was the short film Chicken Soup, which he wrote, directed, and edited. Loosely inspired by the book My Dinner with Andre, the film features the comedic brilliance of Adam Shapiro, a series regular on the FX hit show The Bear.
This production marked a pivotal moment in Jack’s career, as he gained invaluable experience working with dual cameras, filming on real locations, and collaborating with seasoned professional actors. Jack’s ability to passionately articulate his vision and ideas played a key role in securing the actors' enthusiastic involvement.
The film received critical acclaim and was honored as a finalist at the prestigious All American High School Film Festival in New York City. Jack was further honored with a letter of achievement from President Joe Biden, recognizing him as one of the top eight filmmakers to watch in the future.
During Jack’s sophomore year, he decided to broaden his skill set as a director by auditioning for a role in his high school’s production of Les Misérables. To his delight, he was cast as Marius, a pivotal role that provided him with an unforgettable experience. Jack’s outstanding performance earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a High School Musical at the prestigious Jerry Herman Awards. Additionally, he was offered a scholarship opportunity at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts—a potential path for Jack to further hone his craft and expand his artistic repertoire.
Amid all of this, Jack has created a couple of TV commercials for Doritos and an inspiring documentary titled Home Away From Home, which captures his transformative experience at a sleep-away surf camp in Southern California. Notably, he also wrote and performed the documentary's original score.
Currently, Jack is in the process of building his own production company, Misfit Films, which he envisions as a platform for future collaborations and innovative creative projects.
